Shrimp and Sausage Paella is a family favorite, which gave me the idea to have the kids look into Spanish culture. While admitedly it was a short look (I had an afternoon to prepare and our little ones, being 2 and 4, have a short attention span for something they didn't choose to do), we enjoyed talking about bull fighting while watching Ferdinand, the clothes and dances that are traditional to the region, and where exactly Spain is compared to where we are.
Hopefully the next time we do a regional dish I will have more time to prepare and I can get some more willing participants. But my eldest did enjoy helping make this dish.
